Every Child Outdoors raises money to send students to science camp

thumb_eco_fundraiser_article.jpgWhen the Santa Cruz County Outdoor Science School Program calls itself “a lifetime of learning in a few days,” it is not exaggerating. Program coordinator Jaime Langley is proof.

Langley first attended Outdoor Science School as a Westlake Elementary sixth grader. She returned as a cabin leader and has served in a leadership role at the immersive nature camp every summer for the past 13 consecutive years.

A life-changing experience

thumb_lifechanging_article.jpgA local nonprofit group that has helped young people afford science camp for nearly a decade is turning to the community for assistance in expanding its services.

 The Every Child Outdoors Foundation is a nonprofit group run by Santa Cruz County Outdoor Science School to help defray the cost for students at 11 elementary schools in Watsonville and one in Santa Cruz.
